Chenille stems, commonly referred to as pipe cleaners or tinsel stems, are wires that have had chenille applied to them. The majority of "craft" pipe cleaners are composed of polyester or nylon pile. Two pieces of wire are twisted together to form a pipe cleaner, which traps short lengths of fibre (pile) in its centre. Craft pipe cleaners are also known as chenille stems since chenille yarn is produced in the same manner. Posable figures, holiday decorations, and many other crafts may be made using them. They can also be decorated, bent, and twisted into other shapes.
